For You
For You is about giving deeply of oneself to someone we love. It represents giving a piece of one’s existence—one’s future. It promises a deep connection, and expresses a belief in the strength of love’s gift to help us through difficult times.
The imagery shows an awkward, imperfect strand, and the type says “I teased this strand of time out of my future. It’s not one that runs horizontally or vertically but diagonally, with some loops, through my whole existence. It’s not perfect but it’s the best one I could find. It’s for you. You should hang on to it. You never know when it might help hold something together.”
Hopefully we’ve all received one of these and are fortunate enough to be able to give one, too.
For You was created in Adobe Photoshop, where I combined scans of string with my original words as lines of type formed in Illustrator.
